DIG Prithn Partha Kumar Banik has been transferred to Sylhet and Senior Prison Superintendent Prashanta Kumar Banik, who has been transferred to Jessore after the arrest of Sohel Rana of Chittagong Jail after the arrest of Sohel Rana of Chittagong jail under Railway checks worth Tk 44 million and Phensedyl.
The two top officials were transferred on Friday (November 16th) in an order from the Interior Ministry. According to the same order, DIG AKM Fazlul Haque of Sylhet Division was transferred to DIG of Chittagong jail and Mohammadpur of Jessore Central Jail. Kamal Hossain has been ordered to join the Senior Prison Super Superintendent of Chittagong Prison.
DIG Prithi Partha Kumar Merchant joined on August 8, 2016 as the DIG of Chittagong. And senior jail superintendent Prashanta Kumar Banik joined in July this year.
On October 26, Sohail Rana Biswas of Chittagong district was arrested by Bhairab Railway Police with cash worth Tk 44.33 lakh and about five crore taka. Just after the arrest, Sohail Rana of the district claimed that the money was recovered between Tk 5 lakh and Tk 39 lakh, and Chittagong Division's DIG Parath Kumar Banik and Proshanta Kumar Banik, senior jail superintendent of Chittagong Prison.
Judge Senior Judicial Magistrate Iqbal Mahmud granted two-day remand after Kishoreganj Chief Judicial Magistrate appeared before the court after the arrest.
